I’m not going to talk about how quickly this trip has gone by or how sad I am that today’s our last day in London because I’ve been eluding to this imminent end for my past couple of blogs. But, I will say, I will miss these crazy, wonderful people I’ve come to know as friends and family. The thought of not seeing their faces everyday makes me sad…and kind of happy. But mostly sad.
Now more about London.
Sunday my roommate and I decided we wanted to go to the Olympics. The last summer Olympics did take place in London after all. Obviously that was a little over two years ago, but the facilities still exist so it’s still cool. Plus, I read this article on HuffPost about old abandoned Olympic facilities and it was hauntingly awesome. You need to see these pictures. See below.
You can google more on your own, it’s pretty awesome and depressing. We wanted to see if London looked the same. But it didn’t. Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park is actually quite nice looking. No graffiti, the venues are still in tip-top shape, and it actually looks like they’re all or most all of them are still in use. Which makes me happy.
So yeah, that was kind of awesome. Except for the fact that it was raining on us London style aka rain spitting. We forgive you London. Oh and when we hopped off the tube at the station (Stratford) we heard loud EDM aka electronic dance music. Upon further investigation and observing all the flower children around us, we discovered there was a music festival happening in the park. So that was cool.
I have so much more I want to tell you about my trip and experiences in London like broadway rendition of War Horse I attended last night, the weird, amazing people I’ve met and all the tattoos and piercings I’m coming home with (kidding….or am I?), but I’m going to be selfish and keep them all to myself for a bit longer. I really must get back to packing up my dorm. How did I accumulate soo much junk these past couple weeks? Peace out, London town.
